I'am using VB and Visual Studio 2008 with Sql Server 2008 and the routine in "Get Error Description"'s Edit Script only allows for C# code, eventhough the sample tutorial provides both VB and C#. I didn't have c# installed but when I installed C# express, the script routine failed when I attempted to do a build wtih the error:
"You cannot debug or run this project, because the required version of the Microsoft Office application is not installed."

I know I'm nissing something, I just don't know what?

The Script Component that is included in the package for Lesson 5 is configured for Microsoft Visual Basic 2008, as shown in the ScriptLanguage property listed in the Script Transformation Editor.

If you're adding a new Script Component to the package and want to configure it to use VB, set the ScriptLanguage property to Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 in the Script Transformation Editor.

NOTE: Once a Script Component (or Script Task) has been added to a package and the configuration settings have been saved (you click OK in the Editor), you cannot change the ScriptLanguage property setting.

The control is what I need exactly. However, when the for each loop encounters a folder with "access denied", the for each directory loop throws an error and do not continue to scan further folders. Where and how do I make changes to change this behaviour? I want the loop to continue regardless any error (e.g. doesn't have access to the folder/subfolders).

The reported problem is in a where clause in which a string literal is to be interpreted as a date. The expression for the date did not take into account that the SQL Server instance hosting the sample could be localized.

where ModifiedDate < '2002-07-18'

The problem can be fixed by doing an explicit conversion on the string using a format describing how the string is to be interpreted:

where ModifiedDate < CONVERT(datetime, '20020718', 112)

A similar problem exists in the string literals used as dates in the script CDCWorkOrderInsert.sql.

A similar date issue exists in the VB scripts used in the child packages to generate the datetime string literals used as parameters to the CDC wrapper functions. A typical problematic statement is the following:

sStartTime = dStartTime.ToString("G", DateTimeFormatInfo.InvariantInfo)
...
sEndTime = dEndTime.ToString("G", DateTimeFormatInfo.InvariantInfo)
...

varSQLDataQuery.Value = "select * from dbo.fn_net_changes_WorkOrder('" _
& StartTime & "', '" & sEndTime & "', 'all')"

The generated select statement needs to be modified so that when the query executes, the invariant format is interpreted correctly.
